Impact Stories

We would like to share one of the most satisfying parts of our work by recognizing the people and agencies making a difference in our community, and how their work is affecting the residents of Niagara County.

Lockport Family YMCA

“A grant from the Grigg Lewis Foundation was used to help fund the construction of an outdoor sports court for our day camp. The court has made a big difference in the quality of our day camp services. By having this space outside we were able to create another program space for kids in the day camp where they could learn sports skills, sportsmanship, and stay healthy while also developing critical social development skills. By utilizing the space outside, we were able to open more summer program opportunities for seniors inside of the building, like group exercise classes and pickleball, in spaces that were traditionally used or day camp programming. The outdoor sports court is also used by our general membership and community for open basketball and family engagement opportunities. This has had a very positive impact on our community overall.”

Niagara Hospice - Hospice House

“The funds granted by Grigg Lewis Foundation, Inc. were used to help pay for the $2 million expansion of the Residential Wing at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. This expansion project involved adding 6 patient rooms, a nurses’ station, patient/family gathering areas, and furniture to include but not limited to beds, couches, tables, chairs, and televisions. This grant expanded our Lockport facility that is used to provide 24 hour care to terminally ill patients that are unable to remain at home due to the nature of their health and caregiver situation. The facility is often at capacity and this expansion provided much  needed access to care.”

Camp Happiness

“On behalf of the Lockport Elks Camp Happiness organization, please accept our heartfelt thank you… These funds will go a long way toward helping disadvantaged people enjoy a fun filled week of activities this year and we are so appreciative of your ongoing support of our program. This year we will be moving our camp to a new location at the Cambria Fire Hall. We plan on hosting over 100 campers each day and look forward to offering many fun activities throughout the week. As a non-profit, Camp Happiness relies on donations and other private and public funding to help meet the ever-increasing costs associated with our program. We appreciate the Foundation’s vested interest in our community, and once again, thank you for helping us put smiles on the faces of so many. We look forward to offering Camp Happiness for many years to come.“

Cradle Beach, Inc.

Funding from the Grigg-Lewis Foundation makes a huge difference for our Niagara County based campers. Your generosity helps off-set the cost to send a child to camp. We have seen a significant increase in families applying for financial aid with more than a 50% increase from 2022 to 2023. By providing camp scholarships to our Niagara families, we are able to offer an inclusive, one-week overnight summer camp experience to children who would otherwise not have the opportunity. Without the generosity of foundations and funders, children would not have access to the essential services Cradle Beach provides. During a five-day stay, campers grow in skill-building, leadership qualities, problem solving and engage in social-emotional learning. Campers also sharpen their independence skills at a young age, some being away from home for the first time for a prolonged time period. By making camp financially accessible  for all families in our community, opportunities are created for children no matter their background or ability.

Greater Lockport Development Corporation

“We sincerely appreciate the Grigg Lewis Foundation’s support of the Greater Lockport Development Corporation, which in turn supports ALL for the efforts of the LHDC and LMS. Without this funding, none of the progress we have made would be possible, because it is this commitment that allows us to have the fantastic team in place that implements all of what we do. We look forward to our continued partnership…”

SABAH is incredibly grateful for the steadfast support of the Grigg Lewis Foundation. For 13 consecutive years, the Grigg Lewis Foundation has provided support for SABAH’s adaptive recreational programs for individuals challenged by disability in the Niagara County region. Funding from the Grigg Lewis Foundation has become especially pivotal over the past few years. Because of the additional funding from the Grigg Lewis Foundation, SABAH has had the capacity to return to its traditional adaptive ice skating program, while simultaneously continuing the popular Outdoor Series program. This funding has both created new opportunities for physical activity for current SABAH athletes, as well as introduce new participants to SABAH who may be fearful of being on the ice.
