2026 Workership Reception

One of the greatest strengths of this year’s Workership Reception was the opportunity to bring interns and supervisors together outside of their individual workplaces to reflect on past summer experiences and current summer expectations. Rather than simply celebrating the program, participants engaged in meaningful conversations that fostered collaboration, active listening, and relationship building across agencies.

Working side by side in small groups, interns and supervisors openly discussed their expectations, challenges, and successes while gaining a deeper appreciation for one another’s perspectives. Although their roles differ, participants recognized that successful internships are built on the same core values: communication, trust, respect, mentorship, and a shared commitment to learning and growth.

The exercise strengthened the Workership community by encouraging the exchange of ideas, best practices, and shared experiences. Interns realized they were not alone in navigating the opportunities and challenges of a professional work environment, while supervisors reflected on the lasting impact of intentional mentorship. By the end of the session, participants had not only developed practical strategies for successful internships but had also created a collective framework of insights that will help guide future interns and supervisors. These shared lessons will continue to strengthen the Workership Program by providing future participants with a stronger foundation for success.
